Description: The Great Eastern is an aviation event held annually to celebrate, interpret and remember the veterans and heritage of the WW11 RAAF Station Evans Head, the largest training base in Australia at that time. With over 5,500 personnel and thousands of support and training staff it is now heritage listed. We also promote all aspects of aviation and have a great place for pilots their families and friends to holiday at the beach and provide the general public an opportunity to enjoy it all. There are: air displays, joy flights, vintage, ex military, General aviation, microlights, gliders, and many types of aircraft which attend. As well as the aviation side we have on Saturday a large Market and Sunday Classic vehicle display. Plus displays from the RFS, Marine Rescue, Living Museum, Aviation Museum, Angel Flight, Summerland Radio Club, RAAF heritage group, SLSA local club, Kids activities, catering of all sorts, camping, aviation memorabilia and sales and much more. Free Admission - this is for everyone, Donations can be given, shuttle bus. PS Children's Check - If everyone hasn't got one, that's OK with us as long as they are with someone that does or in groups as you did last year. As you can imagine we just have to cover ourselves, nothing personal. Cheers.
